About Us
The Dive Shop LA has been San Pedro's home for diving since 1987. Founded by Captain Mike Rodrigues — a commercial diver turned recreational diving evangelist — out of a converted bait shop on the waterfront, we've grown from a single 26-foot Radon running weekend trips to Catalina into one of Southern California's most respected dive operations. Today, our fleet of three vessels — Kelp Dancer, Sea Wolf, and Channel Explorer — takes divers everywhere from the Palos Verdes kelp beds to the remote outer Channel Islands. Our team of eight holds instructor ratings across SSI and SDI/TDI, specializing in everything from Open Water through Advanced Nitrox, Deco Procedures, and Extended Range. We're known for three things: no-bullshit seamanship, the best air fills south of Point Conception, and a gear wall stocked with equipment we actually use. Whether you're a first-timer doing Discover Scuba or a tech diver loading trimix for a 200-foot wall dive at San Nicolas, this is your shop. Come dive with us. The Channel Islands are waiting.
